Description:

Harvest Notes:

In complete contrast to the 2012 vintage, 2013 saw the region soaked with sunshine and warmth throughout the growing season, after a settled spring, which allowed for fabulous fruit set and healthy growing conditions. As the sunshine continued, ripening progressed at an even rate across the valley floor, so much so that many varieties and sub regions looked to have reached physiological ripeness at once! Two weeks of intense harvesting and work within the winery meant that fruit was captured in optimum condition. Our Chardonnay sites are strategically sited throughout the Wairau Valley. Each vineyard site was harvested at its optimum flavor profile and kept separate throughout the winemaking process to ensure vineyard integrity and to provide the greatest possible vineyard expression.

Fermentation Notes:

The fruit was gently pressed, ambiently settled overnight, racked to 225lt and 300lt French barrels, inoculated with selected and wild yeast strains, lees stirred to develop texture & complexity and left to relax for 10 months in barrel. The vineyard parcels are then racked, blended, fined, filtered and bottled to capture the remarkable mineral fruit weight and structure of stunning Marlborough Chardonnay.
